Bursaries and financial support

Cliff College offers a range of bursaries and scholarships to enable students to access high quality theological education and training.

Unless otherwise stated, students should apply for financial support after accepting an offer of study from Cliff College; information will be sent to offer-holders about applying for these schemes. If you have not yet applied for a course and have questions about financial support, please contact enquiries@cliffcollege.ac.uk.

  • Applicant is an active member of the Methodist Church in Britain, or Church in family of World Methodist Council
Foundations: Mission and Ministry pathwayLay Ministry Bursary*£300
  • Applicant is in a recognised ministry post (paid or voluntary) in any church and is a student on the full Foundations: Mission and Ministry pathway, comprising six units

*This bursary can be applied for alongside the application for the Foundations: Mission and Ministry pathway; it should be supported by a letter from your church leader.

  • Designed to enable access to higher education related to ethnicity, low income neighbourhoods and disability
BA Theology & MissionCliff Mission Scholarship£2,000 (first year of award; subsequent years £1,500 if awarded)
  • Evidenced commitment to Christian mission
  • Commitment to Cliff College community role during scholarship year (may include hospitality, worship, library, estates, missions)
  • Open to full-time residential students
BA Theology & MissionLay Ministry Bursary£500, awarded annually
  • Applicant is in a recognised ministry post (paid or voluntary) in any church
  • Means tested
  • Open to part-time students

Applications for scholarships and bursaries should normally be received by 1 August, and will be allocated by 15 August.

  • Applicant is in a recognised lay or ordained ministry post in the Methodist Church
  • Commitment to pay fees in advance for completion of programme in three years
  • Open to part-time students
MA Theology and MissionCliff Mission Scholarship

£2000, awarded annually

  • Evidenced commitment to Christian mission
  • Commitment to Cliff College community role during scholarship year (may include hospitality, worship, library, estates, missions)
  • Open to new full-time residential students completing the MA in 15 months
PhDMethodist Doctoral Scholarships

Up to 50% of programme fees

Applications for scholarships and bursaries should normally be received by 1 August, and will be allocated by 15 August.
