Cliff College is a COVID-secure campus and a number of our guidelines remain in place for students or staff who are coming to Cliff for courses. We recognise that some students will feel very comfortable at Cliff following lockdown, but that others will be nervous. The procedures we have in place are both to protect the individual but also to ensure that everyone feels comfortable. Please respect the needs of others in the way you respond to the guidelines we have chosen to keep in place.
We have three key elements to our policy:
- COVID testing;
- face coverings;
- social distancing.
We have a regular pattern of COVID testing that ensures all staff and students test twice a week as this both reduces risk and breeds confidence. We therefore require every student to have evidence of two negative lateral flow tests before travelling to Cliff. These tests should have been taken at least 3 days apart, with the last one being within 24 hours of travelling. Evidence of these test results, which is the confirmation of the result from the NHS, must be shown on arrival – failure to do so will lead to students being asked to leave. All students will also be asked to test whilst they are onsite and, for those on an intensive teaching week, that will be on a Thursday morning.
Face coverings are required to be worn, unless you are exempt, in all public areas, although we don’t expect them to be worn in your bedroom or when eating or drinking. We recognise that for some people this is particularly challenging and therefore it’s important to recognise the needs of others, e.g. finding a different location for a conversation when someone is struggling to hear.
Social distancing is one of the most difficult aspects of the guidelines to judge. It’s easy to get closer and closer to someone, particularly if you’re having a conversation or are working together on a task. We ask everyone to be aware of the distance they are from each other, but also to be willing to be challenged by others to keep their distance.
If you have COVID symptoms, have tested positive or are told to self-isolate then please do not travel to Cliff College. Please let the College know by emailing our reception or by calling 01246 584200 and we will advise with the alternatives available.
This advice may change at short notice depending on the changing situation with Covid-19 and in accordance with guidance from the government. We will endeavour to communicate these changes with all our existing and prospective students in good time.
Cliff College has an online learning platform which holds all of our learning materials and gives students access to the Digital Theological Library. This platform is used to provide our online-only courses and as an accompaniment to our in-person learning. If, in the future, face-to-face teaching is not possible due to COVID restrictions, the online learning platform will be used to enable remote learning for all students on our validated programmes (as it was in 2020-21) and for other programmes where possible. While most of our validated programme content is designed to be taught face-to-face, we are confident of our ability to deliver an excellent standard of teaching online.
