Tony is a member of the Methodist Church’s Evangelism & Growth Team with responsibility for discipleship development. Prior to his current role Tony had a varied career including working in South Africa as a biology teacher, school counsellor, lecturer in remedial education and head of an educational psychology department in a teachers’ college, and senior lecturer in a university school of education. Following a long interest in theology and religious studies he completed postgraduate studies in theology and obtained a doctorate in theology with a thesis on ‘CS Lewis: Exponent of Tradition and Prophet of Postmodernism. In 2006 he was appointed principal of the interdenominational Theological Education By Extension College of South Africa before joining the ecumenical partnership for theological education at Luther King House in Manchester in 2009. When the Methodist Church withdrew its involvement from other institutions in 2013 to focus its work in the Queen’s Foundation and Cliff College, Tony was appointed as discipleship development coordinator for the Methodist Church, based as Cliff College, where he is an associate lecturer.
