Clive works at Cliff College as a Volunteer Archivist. His first visit to Cliff was as a schoolboy with his parents in 1952. Returning every year as a volunteer helper, he assisted at both Anniversary and Derwent gatherings. After National Service in the RAF and training at Westminster College, Clive taught Technical Subjects in Secondary schools, working at Cliff during his holidays. He later took up full-time work at Cliff College, serving in various positions including Catering Manager, Clerk of Works, and Advocacy and Resources Officer. He is a Methodist Local Preacher and also a Steward in his local church.
