Allison supports Cliff students who have special educational needs and disabilities and is the primary contact for those seeking assistance with Disabled Students Allowance (DSA).
She used to spend the majority of her time compiling Cliff College data returns for external stakeholders, such as the Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA) and the Office for Students (OfS), among many other things, as Cliff's Academic Registrar, while also assisting students to access learning support. After 12 years, she left the registrar role to expand her freelance editing and proofreading work. However, she maintains her links with the College by continuing to provide our SEND student support, which she says was one of her favourite aspects of her former role. She originally joined the College in 2012, following a background in FE and HE development and delivery. She has an unused (!) degree in Modern Languages (French and Russian) and a postgraduate qualification in HE Education Leadership and Management, and runs her own freelance copyediting and proofreading business.
Allison and her husband John have three 'grown-up' daughters, whose various disabilities and neurodiverse conditions ignited her with her passion for helping Cliff students to overcome any similar barriers they may face. She loves to swim, has a major obsession with correct punctuation, and her dog loves her husband more than her and this is fine.
