Credit transfer arrangements (AP(E)L)
It may be possible to transfer existing credit (credit you have already achieved elsewhere) into a programme of study at Cliff College. This is sometimes known as APL – the Accreditation of Prior Learning – or can simply mean a direct transfer from one Higher Education provider to another. Up to 120 (60 ECTS) credits may be transferred into a three-year undergraduate programme, and up to 60 (30 ECTS) postgraduate credits into full MA programme, providing they are appropriate to the proposed programme of study. APL credit will normally be accepted within a maximum of five years from the date it was awarded.
It may also be possible to use APEL – the Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning – against credit in a Cliff College programme of study. This is the formal recognition of prior learning gained through other experience, including paid or unpaid work, self-directed study or through leisure pursuits. Again, APEL experience will normally only be accepted within a maximum of five years from the date of the most recent activity that was undertaken.
If you would like to explore either of the above opportunities, please send details of the credits and/or experience you are proposing to transfer to the course administrator who is managing your application, or to admissions@cliffcollege.ac.uk.
