Every Woman: Ruth

Every Women: Ruth is held in joint partnership between Cliff College and Girls’ Brigade Ministries, and supported through a Methodist Church Connexional Mission and Ministry Grant. This weekend retreat will include interactive sessions, connecting with others, a walk, time to relax together, and periods of rest and quiet.

The theme of this weekend retreat is the book and character of Ruth.

All of us encounter the unexpected, when life leaves you feeling empty-handed. For Ruth, this was early widowhood and a commitment to stay and live alongside her mother-in-law. And all this in the harsh reality of a world that didn’t value women other than through the men they married, gave birth to, or whom they called Dad.

How do we respond in times like these? What does it feel like to weather the storm? Where do we see God within our circumstances?

Ruth was strong and resourceful, of noble character, selfless and hard-working. Her story is one of finding favour through faithfulness and beauty through brokenness.

The retreat was an opportunity for each one of us to meet with God in ways that suited us. A relaxed, fun, engaging and reflective time.
