Library 1

Belben Library

The Belben Library is a key feature of Cliff College, supporting students and staff and resourcing our wider College community.

About the library

The Belben Library was first set-up in 2004 and was dedicated to the memory of Howard Belben, the principal of Cliff College from 1965 to 1977. The main library now holds over 33,000 books. With other collections across the site, Cliff College holds a total of 40,000 books. The College also subscribes to a range of online journals, which are available to staff and students.

Cliff College covers a wide breadth of teaching throughout the various courses it offers. This is reflected in the library’s resources, which include a relatively high proportion of newer titles. Some of the specialist subject areas include:

  • biblical studies
  • children, youth and family ministry
  • Christian leadership
  • Christian spirituality
  • Church history
  • evangelism
  • missiology
  • pentecostal and charismatic studies
  • Wesleyan theology and spirituality
  • women in the Bible.

Library opening times

Over the summer, the Library is open on Mondays and Tuesdays only from 9:30am-2:30pm. If you are a non-residential student or an external reader travelling to Cliff College especially to visit or use the Library, please contact the librarian on librarian@cliffcollege.ac.uk first to ensure you will be able to access the resources you need.

External readers

Cliff College welcomes external readers, and has resources that could be useful to those in Church ministry and in the local community. Please contact the Library if you would like more information on becoming an external reader.
